Patio Calculations and Formula
You want to build a patio that measures 10 feet by 12 feet, using 2-inch thick paving slabs.
How many slabs will you need to cover the entire patio?
- First, convert the dimensions to inches: 10 feet x 12 feet = 120 inches x 144 inches.
- Calculate the total area of the patio in square inches: 120 inches x 144 inches = 17,280 square inches.
- Divide the total area by the area of one slab: 17,280 square inches ÷ (24 inches x 24 inches) = 30 slabs.
- Round up to the nearest whole number, since you can't buy fractional slabs: You will need 31 slabs to cover the entire patio.
So, the answer to the question is that you will need 31 slabs to cover the entire patio.
